Hocon Gas Explosion and Fire:
On Wednesday Oct. 3, 2007 at 23:42 hours, Stony Hill and
Bethel FD responded to a reported gas fire across from 67 Payne Rd. Bethel PD
arrived first and reported a building fire at Hocon Industrial Gas Company.
Asst Chief Galliford (S2) arrived on scene and confirmed
building fire and Danbury Fire also on scene. Realizing this building was in
Danbury, and having two tankers and two engines enroute from Stony Hill and
Bethel FD’s, S2 notified Danbury Fire Command and utilized our resources for
water supply.
Stony Hill Engine 2 and Bethel Tanker 1 supplied Danbury
Career Engines and Ladder truck as Engine 3 and Engine 6 laid more than 3,000
feet of 5” supply hose. Units also assisted in rehab and RIT. 19 Stony Hill
members responded and remained on scene until 07:45 the next morning.
